Commercial contract conditions, quotation validity, timber movement disclosures, and craftsmanship standards.
These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of bespoke architectural joinery, handcrafted cabinetry, and installation services by Cotswold Woodcraft & Joinery Ltd ("the Company") to the client named on the quotation ("the Client"). A legally binding contract is formed upon the Client's written approval of our formal quotation and receipt of the initial 40% project deposit.
Due to prevailing fluctuations in the certified timber commodity market and supply of prime native hardwoods, all written quotations issued by the Company remain strictly valid for thirty (30) calendar days from date of issuance. Following this period, the Company reserves the right to review and adjust material costings prior to contract confirmation.
Following the initial site survey, the Company will generate detailed 2D CAD elevations and section drawings illustrating dimensions, joinery profiles, shelf spacing, and door clearances. Fabrication of timber components will commence only upon receipt of the Client's signed approval of these drawings. Any structural variations requested by the Client after CAD sign-off will be subject to a formal written variation order detailing additional costs and program adjustments.
Solid hardwood is a natural organic material. The Client acknowledges that variations in grain structure, medullary rays, figure, subtle tonal differences, and minor knot formations are inherent natural characteristics of prime solid English Oak, Walnut, and Ash, rather than defects. While the Company exercises meticulous care to bookmatch and curate harmonious timber flitches, absolute uniformity identical to synthetic laminates cannot and will not be guaranteed.
To protect fine joinery from atmospheric moisture damage, the Client must ensure that the installation site is fully enclosed, weathertight, and environmentally equilibrated before delivery. Plasterwork, screeds, and wet trades must be fully dry, and permanent heating must be operational maintaining a relative humidity between 40% and 60%. The Company accepts no liability for timber swelling, cupping, or movement caused by installation in unheated, damp, or freshly plastered environments.
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, our standard stage payment terms are:
Retention of Title: All goods, materials, and joinery components remain the exclusive legal property of Cotswold Woodcraft & Joinery Ltd until the contract price has been settled in full.
The Company warrants that all bespoke joinery and cabinetry supplied will be free from defects resulting from faulty workmanship or structural joint failure for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of installation completion. This warranty does not cover ordinary wear and tear, impact damage, exposure to water leaks, lack of reasonable maintenance, or movement caused by extreme environmental humidity deviations.
These Terms and Conditions and any contractual disputes arising under them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
Whether consulting for an Oxfordshire country residence, a London townhouse, or a Grade II listed heritage restoration, our master joiners provide comprehensive technical design, timber guidance, and white-glove installation.
